Accident on 340 Seriously Injures Winchester Resident

A   crash just north of Berryville near the 340 Cigarette Outlet   seriously injured a Winchester resident late Thursday morning.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 11:55AM   June 16, 2011 on Route 340 just south of   Route 611. 42-year-old Clinton Jordan was driving a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta northbound on Route 340 when he lost control of the vehicle. He subsequently veered into a ditch on the right shoulder and struck a utility pole and then a fence according to Virginia State Police public information officer , Sgt. F.L. Tyler.

Crews from John H Enders Fire and Rescue and Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. The driver suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken by medical helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital. No information was available on the condition of the driver.

The incident is under investigation by VSP Trooper J.F. Williams.

Officers from the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office and the Berryville Police Department also responded to the scene of the accident.
