April and May Bring Garden Opening and Classes to Round Hill

by Gina Faber

Denise Palmer will teach Organic Vegetable Gardening

It’s been a chilly March,   but Spring is around the corner.   There is still room for a few more local residents to sign up for a small plot at the Round Hill Community Garden.   For $25/season plus refundable deposits,   you can join the group of 18 tenants growing our own vegetables and flowers at the Falls Place location in downtown Round Hill.     You can even Plant a Row for the Hungry.     Who is eligible?   Priority is given to Round Hill applicants, but plots are available to those who live outside of Round Hill too.   Churches,   home school groups, scout troops are encouraged to adopt a plot.

Register for your plot via the Garden’s website:   www.RoundHillGarden.org or pick up registration forms at the RH Town Office.   Registration is open until the plots are filled and a waiting list develops.

The public is welcome to visit the Garden on our Opening Day,   Saturday April 9th (rain date 4/16).     A 12 noon celebration will wrap up a morning of working on garden preparations.

Also,   we are sponsoring a FREE class in Organic Vegetable Gardening, taught by Loudoun County Master Gardeners expert Denise Palmer.     The class is open to all gardeners on Sunday May 1, 2 – 3:30 at the Round Hill Town Office,   23 Main Street,   Round Hill.
