ArborFest This Weekend!

Blandy Farm kicks off its 18th annual Fall Festival and Plant Sale this weekend. Beautiful autumn weather, over forty vendors and plenty of family-friendly activities should draw over 3,000 visitors for the two-day event according to Blandy’s Events & Volunteer Coordinator Koy Mislowsky.

“There are lots of plants and supplies for gardeners but we also have many children’s activities as well,” Mislowsky said.

Mislowsky said that several new vendors and activities are included in this year’s Arbor Fest. Nall’s Farm Market, exhibiting for the first time at Arbor Fest, is presenting a spectacular fall collection of gourds, scarecrows and apples all centered around a 993-pound pumpkin. Other new vendors include Wild Birds Unlimited and Virginia Lovers Gourd Society.

Children’s events, from 10am – 4pm on Saturday and noon – 4pm on Sunday, include scarecrow making and hay rides. Old-time apple tasting and a chance to pet alpacas will attract children of all ages. Visitors will find a wide range of food providers include Mr. B’s BBQ, Chick-fil-A, Sara Festivals, Nibblins, Papa John’s Pizza and Mountain Concession’s Kettle Korn.

Gardeners are encouraged to bring unwanted plastic pots for exchange or trade.

Arbor Fest runs from 9am – 4:30pm Saturday and Sunday.
