Barns of Rose Hill “Killer” Fundraiser

The noise and dust coming from the Barns of Rose Hill these days is a sign of progress according to Project Manager Stan Kerns. H&W Construction of Winchester, Virginia began renovating the aging structures in June and Kearns says that the building plans are on track to open next summer.

The Barns of Rose Hill has been a community dream for decades in Clarke County. Now that the project is well on its way to reality the community will soon have a 7,438-square-foot facility to in which celebrate life, the arts, and culture. The building will also serve as a tourism office for visitors to the area.
“The demolition work is almost complete” Kerns said last week. “The construction team is ready to start building. That’s the fun part!”
As Kearns watched over backhoes moving dirt and rocks last week, Clarke County’s Kevin Creany from EarthWorksVA.com stood nearby with Barns activist Susi Bailey.

“That’s a beautiful Bottlebrush Buckeye there in the corner” Creany said pointing to a plant shielded from the construction activity by orange plastic fencing.
Creany’s protective gaze also moved to a 40-year old quince perched precariously near the foundation excavation.
“We’ll take this quince back to our greenhouse and plant it where it can be watered” Creany said. “Once the excavation work is completed it will be returned and replanted.”
Creany is donating his time and efforts to ensure that the site’s original botanicals are being protected and preserved.
Book Signing
The Barns of Rose Hill will present a reading and book signing by award-winning Middleburg Mystery Writer Jan Neuharthfor of her new thriller, The Kill, on Sunday September 12 at 5:00 PM at the John H. Enders Volunteer Fire Company Social Hall, 9 South Buckmarsh Street, Berryville, Virginia.
