The Rich Rau Memorial Bike Tour & Pancake Breakfast kicks off the activities in Berryville this weekend. The 6th annual ride through Clarke County, honors Rich Rau, the former Berryville Public Utilities Director who was struck and killed by an SUV on Route 340 in Jefferson County, W.Va. in May 2005. The event begins with a pancake breakfast served at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church located at 210 E. Main Street. Riders have three route options to choose from that include 15, 30 or 50 mile rides. The event is open to the public and anyone interested in participating can still sign up at the event for $30, but you will have to show up early. Registration is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m., breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10 a.m., and the tour starts at 9:00 a.m. Funds raised by the event go toward the Laurel Center and toward town and police department programs promoting bike safety.
This weekend also marks the second week of the Clarke County Farmer’s Market. Last week was rainy but saw a good turn-out so with sunny skies in the forecast plan to get there early for the best produce and locally made products.
Get your power sport fix just across the county line this weekend at Summit Point. The DC Region Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) will be hosting 6 groups of national auto racing and 2 special groups of regional racing at Summit Point Motorsports Park on May 21-22.
