Berryville Daughter Poised to Open for Dave Barnes in Minneapolis

By Paula Shipman

Alex Masters, local aspiring talent, has been participating in a contest sponsored by TopBlip.com to be the opening act for up and coming star, Dave Barnes at the Minneapolis, Minnesota venue, The Varsity.  Alex learned of the contest through a friend on the social networking site, Facebook.

Her friend kept urging her to post a video audition to the site and in the last six hours of pre-qualifying, Alex took that leap and followed the well-intentioned advice.  She was amazed as her video quickly jumped to the top of the entry group.  With so little time left in the audition phase, she went from the bottom to the top six.  Her speedy accomplishment in the preliminary audition phase earned her a “bye” in the first round of competition and ensured her a spot in the second round.

Through each of the next four levels of competition this week, Alex has held her own with votes coming in from the TopBlip website itself, Facebook and also, Twitter.  She has posted a few different videos. The first was a cover of a Dave Barnes song.  The second was a well-known country tune, “Strawberry Wine.”  In this final round of voting, she has posted her own original piece entitled, “Long Past Long Gone.”

If you would like to see her videos, and help her lead gain further momentum, please follow the link below and “Like” her video through your Facebook account.  An alternative voting method is to create a TopBlip.com account and vote for her through their mechanism. Or, lastly, if you have a Twitter account, please re-tweet her video.

With an attitude that is as sweet as her honeyed voice, Alex would like to say, “Thank you so, so, so much to everyone who has voted and re-posted my video throughout the early rounds.  I will do my very best to represent Berryville in the best possible way!”
