Picture 7On March sixteenth officers were dispatched to the residence of Robyn Wells in Covington Georgia for a reported burglary in progress. Wells told police that upon returning home from work, she found the vehicle owned by her ex-husband Gary Darby, a resident of Berryville Va, in her carport and that glass to an entry door of the house had been smashed.

When police arrived on scene and secured the area they located a suicide note on the front seat of the Ford Ranger owned by Darby. Wells told police that her ex-husband had threatened her and threatened suicide before. Police attempted to contact Darby in the home but received no response. Based on the Darby’s previous threats, police then called in SWAT to enter the home. Upon entry SWAT team members found the body of Gary Darby in a bedroom of the residence.

The Newton County Coroner pronounced Gary Darby dead on location from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
