There’s no proof that St. Patrick ever visited Mexico but his spirit was alive and well at the Camino Real in Berryville on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day as the Brogue Rogues and about fifty guests in the lounge sang along to such favorite Irish songs as The Unicorn, Irish Eyes and Star of County Down.
The Brogue Rogues of Clarke County specialize in Irish music along with Celtic and even folk and country tunes. They are a perennial crowd favorite and audience-involving trio composed of Keith Adams on guitar, John Friant on mandolin and fiddle, and Jim Buckner on hammered dulcimer, harmonica and bodran. The current lineup has been performing together since 2003. All are local musicians with a true love of Irish music.
A variety of venues around the area host their shows from fine restaurants to vineyards. Would you like to hear them live? Catch them at Union Jack Pub in Winchester tonight at 8pm for St. Patrick’s Day fun. Thursday they will be at The Battletown Inn. Saturday they will play at Notaviva Vineyard in Purcellville.
