  1. J Gibson says:

Hmmm…on her watch, the state GOP couldn’t defeat Tim Kaine for governor, and saw Jim Webb keep the Senate seat in the Democrats’ hands. She followed Allen back to DC to help him pack up after that loss, after she was forced out as state GOP chair. Yeah…she’s a good source.

    • George Archibald says:

      J. Gibson’s comment as a member of the political opposition is unfair. The Obenshain star quality in recent Virginia GOP history goes back to Linwood Holton’s first-time Republican win for governor since Reconstruction, after which Dick Obenshain was running statewide for the U.S. Senate as Republican nominee but killed when his campaign plane went down near Winchester. Dick Obenshain would have won, as did his nominee successor John Warner, who remained Virginia’s U.S. Senator for decades. Kate Obenshain is another true political worthy who has experienced wins and losses like all who put themselves on the line in public service. We should be grateful for their sacrifice, regardless of party preference. Sour grapes from those of the opposing party are simply that.

  2. LegalEagle says:

You are correct, George Archibald. This is a great opportunity for all of Clarke County’s youth; no matter which party they are currently leaning toward. Kate Obenshain is a dynamic speaker and has demonstrated a strong history of inspiring youth to become involved in the political process. J. Gibson’s comment above is overly simplistic, transparent, and inappropriate.

  3. “Sour grapes,” George? How is what JGibson wrote “sour grapes”? Don’t know that JGibson identified with any party, just pointed out a couple of political factoids. But, I guess you’ll read into it what you want.

I’ve heard her speak, and she is a dynamic speaker who does come from a long line of politicians. She toes the party line a little too much for my taste, but she is a loyal GOP foot soldier.

  4. My 2 Cents says:

Same ole Same ole! Taxes are too high and you want less Government.

There, I just saved you all the trip…….
