Anecdotal stories from past and present residents reconnecting through the Clarke Daily News demonstrate the need for a home town news source and virtual gathering place. For example, on February 19th the paper posted its first birth announcement (Happy Birthday Lilith Ishitar Warner!) Similarly, several former Clarke County residents living in other parts of the world have reconnected with memories of home through school sports article coverage (Go Blue and Orange! says Bill, a former Eagles football player now living in California.) And although the wedding will take place in Gretna Green, Scotland, the Hern-McDaniel engagement announcement (and beautiful picture) can be seen in the Clarke Daily News “Engagements” section.

Readers wishing to place an obituary, birth, engagement, wedding or other announcement can simply select the “Contact” button in the upper, right-hand corner of the Clarke Daily News homepage (http://www.ClarkeDailyNews.com). Please include all relevant information to be published and list the type of event (wedding, birth, obituary, etc.) in the “Subject” field.

The Clarke Daily News was established in December, 2009. Community response to the paper has been both strong and supportive. In addition to focusing on Clarke County news, the paper has become a central source for community events and happenings. Expanded coverage of people-related topics is an extension of the paper’s commitment to  community outreach and service.
