Clarke Grapplers Win Big at George Mason

Eagle Grapplers traveled to George Mason high school in Vienna yesterday (Jan.4) to wrestle district foes George Mason and Central Woodstock, as well as Chantilly High School.  Clarke’s team beat all opponents, scoring 48-28 against Chantilly, a AAA school with more than four times the enrollment of CCHS; 54-18 against Central; and then steam-rolled George Mason with a score of 57-9.

Sean Erisman (106), Anthony Marasco (113), Johnny Longerbeam (145), Ben Wallace (160), Levi Hagerdon (220), and William Wallace (hwt) all went 3-0 on the evening.  Marasco, Longerbeam, and both Wallace brothers pinned all of their opponents.  Anthony Marasco has brought his yearly pin total up to 11 and Ben Wallace leads the team with 23 pins for the year.

Clarke fans and wrestlers will be traveling to Charlestown WV this Friday and Saturday to watch the Eagles mix it up in the Jefferson Invitational Duals.  The tournament will feature 11 teams, including Hedgesville, Martinsburg, Jefferson, and Berkeley Springs from West Virginia; Handley, Warren County, Woodgrove, and Loudoun Valley from Virginia; and Conestoga and Susquenita high schools from Pennsylvania.  The brawl begins at 5 p.m. Friday and reconvenes at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the championship round for the top-eight teams beginning at 5 p.m.  Clarke is the only Virginia Single A representative, and is ready to prove themselves against some tough competition from three states – GO EAGLES!
