Fatal Accident in Clarke County on Red Gate Road

An overnight accident in Clarke County has claimed the life of the driver and left the passenger in critical condition.

The accident occurred at   approximately 12:10 AM Saturday morning on Red Gate Rd. (Route 624) 2 miles south of Route 50. Forty-four year old Deborah Harrington-Schoonover of Front Royal was driving a 1993 Ford Bronco at a high rate of speed and apparently lost control of the vehicle. The Bronco ran off the right side of the road and struck two trees. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She died at the scene as a result of her her injuries.

The passenger, Dylan Harrington age 18, was flown to INOVA Hospital trauma center with critical injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The crash is being investigated by Trooper K.L. Myers of the Virginia State Police

Agencies on scene were Boyce Vol. Fire Co., Shenandoah Farms Vol. Fire Dept., Clarke County Emergency Services, Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, and Va. State Police.

  2. Debbie was taking her nephew to Charlestown slots for his 18th birthday,a “gift” he really wanted. Dylan has since passed away as a result of his injuries. The entire family is induring losses unimaginable. Debbie loved the Lord, her husband and her nephew and nieces. Please keep these families in your prayers.
