Flag Retirement Ceremony


The Fort Loudoun Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, is sponsoring a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day, June 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Shawnee Fire & Rescue Station, 2210 Valor Drive, Winchester, VA   22601.
Citizens may drop off tattered or damaged flags at their local Fire & Rescue stations to ensure proper disposal of their flags during this event. All are welcome to attend the ceremony.   For further information call 540-868-8149.

    Thank you, Mike. We are hoping that many, many residents will bring in their torn or tattered flags. All flags will be respectively retired. The Shenandoah Area Council of Boy Scouts is hopeful of providing a color guard to support the ceremony. I think that everyone should bring their children to this ceremony to witness how our American flags that are torn or tattered should be retired. These flags should never be thrown away. This will become an annual event for our Fort Loudoun Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The Sons of the American Revolution will also have members present.
