Fourteen from Clarke Compete in Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association District Championship

Fourteen Clarke County wrestlers from elementary through the open (post high school) divisions attended the Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association (MAWA) District Championship at James Wood High School Saturday March 24, 2012.  Bayne Gordon, Bryan Wallace, Jacob Parrott, and Rico Nappi captured first place in their age and weight groups; Daniel Heath, Dawson Parrott, Jacob Buckman, Tommy Cleary, and William Heath all took second in their classes.  Twelve wrestlers qualified to move to the MAWA Regional tournament at Shippensburg University next weekend, and hope to do well enough there to test their skills in the MAWA Eastern National Championship in Salisbury Maryland in May.  The MAWA Eastern Nationals is one of the premier wrestling tournaments in the country.  The MAWA Eastern National Championship has been won by many grapplers who went on to have stellar NCAA careers.
