Governor’s Daughter Will Be Queen Shenandoah At Apple Blossom

rachel-croppedApple Blossom Festival President, Elaine Aikens today announced that Queen Shenandoah LXXXIII Designate is Rachel Lynn McDonnell, daughter of Virginia Governer, Bob McDonnell.

Rachel is a student at James Madison University where she is a Communications Studies major with a minor in Sociology. She is also a varsity cheerleader at JMU and will graduate the weekend after the Festival this spring.

In an official release Rachel McDonnell said she is, “honored to be asked and is looking forward to her role” as Queen Shenandoah the LXXXIII.

She will be crowned in the traditional Coronation Ceremony on the stage of Handley High School at 2:00pm on Friday, April 30th. Her Mother will accompany her throughout her time in Winchester and her father plans to attend as much as his schedule will permit.
