Johnson-Williams Wrestlers travel to Warren County Regional Tournament

by Bud Gordon – Johnson-Williams Cougar wrestlers traveled to Warren County Middle school again last Saturday (December 4) for the first annual Warren County Middle School wrestling tournament.   There were eight middle schools from two states attending from over one hundred miles away, as well as individual wrestlers going head-to-head for some of the best wrestlers in the state.

The Cougars sent twenty two wrestlers to battle with over one hundred and sixty other grapplers in a ten hour brawl at Saturday’s super-regional tournament.   Bayne Gordon won second place in the finals round, Ian Dors, Matt Cleary, Ernie Benner, and Mark Alexander secured third place in their weight classes, and Sean and Thomas Erisman captured fourth place honors.

Congratulations Cougar wrestlers and good luck this week when Daniel Morgan comes to JWMS on Tuesday, and Thursday when the Cougars travel to Rappahannock.
