Dear CDN Editor:
The community garden at Blandy Experimental Farm is beginning its fourth growing season, and thanks to financial and volunteer support from area residents and businesses, we are tripling the size of our garden. We now have nearly 30 garden plots available for adoption. In exchange for free use of a plot, gardeners donate a portion of what they grow to area food banks, soup kitchens, and other venues where food reaches those who need it.
We thank the Kohl’s Distribution Center, the Berryville branch of BB&T, Lowe’s, and Berryville Farm Supply for providing hard-working volunteers, grants, and donated or discounted materials and supplies. These contributions have allowed us not only to expand, but also to replace and purchase hoses, garden tools, and other equipment.
We wish to thank these businesses and their employees for their generous support!
