Local area Lions Clubs will be providing free sight, hearing, and glaucoma screenings as well as pediatric vision screenings from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Community Wellness Festival on 25 February at the Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester.
New this year – Lions will be screening children as young as 6 months of age. We will be using new, state of the art digital screening devices to check for eye conditions in young children who are unable to read. Screenings are quick, easy, and accurate. The image can be captured in a little as one second! You will also have the opportunity to consult with an eye care professional during the Wellness Festival following the screening.
If your child is getting ready to participate in a spring sports program, have them get another vision screening before the start of the season. If your child seems to be having difficulty with reading that could be vision related, have their vision tested. Children’s eyes can change rapidly. Make sure that a correctable vision problem is identified before it becomes a problem. Undetected vision problems can prevent a child from achieving their full potential in both school and sports.
Lions from Winchester Shawnee Lions Club, Middletown Children First Lions Club, Clarke County Lions Club, Stephens City Lions Club, Strasburg Lions Club, Winchester Host Lions Club, and Winchester Lioness Lions will be on hand at the Wellness Festival to provide sight, hearing, and glaucoma Screenings. In addition, students from the James Wood Leo Club, Millbrook Leo Club, and Sherando Leo Club will also be supporting Sight, Hearing and Glaucoma Screenings throughout the day. For additional information please contact Lion Sharon Hart, Clarke County Lions Club, 540-955-6229.
