Millwood Man Killed in Crash on Old Waterloo Road

A single vehicle crash in Clarke County Thursday afternoon sent one man to the hospital and claimed the life of his passenger.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:00 PM on November 17. According to State Police Information Officer Sgt F.L. Tyler, 28 year-old Daniel Banks of Millwood was driving a 1993 Ford F-150 southbound on Old Waterloo Road (Route 668) two tenths of a mile south of Route 340, when he slipped off the left shoulder of the road after coming out of a turn. The driver then over-corrected to the right and struck a tree with the passenger side of the truck.

Banks was transported to Winchester Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. His passenger, 56 year-old Thomas Harrison also of Millwood, died en route to the hospital at approximately 5:05 PM.

The accident was investigated by Trooper R.L. Fiorvanti.

The driver refused to take a breathalyzer test and was charged with driving under the influence.

Neither of vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
