With the public ground breaking ceremony now just a “warm” and fleeting memory, Shockey and Sons Construction wasted no time getting to work at the site of the new school. As many as five heavy earth moving machines could be seen on the site at mid-day. Also present are large piles of yet-to-be buried water line pipe.
Any community member present at the ground breaking ceremony noticed that the dry soil at the construction site has a consistency more comparable to flour than to dirt. Sunday’s storms added little moisture to the soil.
Today’s windy conditions appeared to push the plumes of dust created by earth moving operations toward homes in the Battlefield Estates development, directly east of the construction site.
The National Weather Service predicts continued dry conditions for the next two days with an increased chance of showers on Wednesday.
