Obituary for Blanton W. Wiley “BW”

Wiley PhotoBlanton William “BW” Wiley, 70, of Berryville, Virginia, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Wiley was born November 27, 1939 in Clarke County, Virginia, the son of Edward Virginius Wiley and Catherine Newlin Wiley who have both preceded him in death.
BW was a certified arborist serving Clarke County and the surrounding area, and was better known in his community as the “tree doctor.”   Trees were his passion, and he dedicated his career to preserving the life of every tree he encountered, which gave him that personal ownership and pride in every tree he cared for.   BW left a distinct “bootprint” on the earth through his special touch with trees, animals and all he met.   He will be truly missed, but never forgotten.   He moves on to a peaceful place to meet his closest friend Captain, his loyal golden retriever!
He had served in the National Guard.
BW is survived by his wife Colleen; a son, Robert “Bo” Wiley of Berryville, VA; 2 step-daughters, Linda Lind of South Lake Tahoe, CA and Debbie Gietz of Huntley, VA; 2 step-sons, Thomas Lind of San Francisco, CA and Greg Lind of Lost River, WV; 2 brothers, Thomas E. Wiley of Ijamsville, MD and Calvin E. Wiley of Berryville, VA; 2 half brothers, John A. Newlin and Dewey W. Newlin both of Winchester, VA; a half sister, Janie Jenkins of Winchester, VA; a grandson, Seth Wiley of Berryville, VA; and 2 granddaughters, Rebecca Wiley of Berryville, VA and Anita Grim of Winchester, VA.
BW was preceded in death by his 1st wife Barbara Anne Huff Wiley who passed away on February 5, 1983.
Services for BW will be held at 8:00 P. M. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Enders and Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, VA with Tom Gatewood officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Thursday evening prior to the service at the funeral home.
