Obituary for Cecil C. Ritenour

Cecil Clay Ritenour, 74, of Kearneysville, West Virginia, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Ritenour was born June 13, 1938 in Clarke County, Virginia, the son of Howard Franklin and Nethella Pearl Ritter Ritenour.

He retired from the City of Winchester and worked part-time for Mercer Oil Company.

He was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church, Winchester, Virginia.

He enjoyed many sports but his favorite teams were, WVU Mountaineers, Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Nationals. He also enjoyed coaching a women’s softball team in Frederick County.

He married Hilda Smallwood Ritenour on December 2, 1966 in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Pamela Ritenour Weaver and her husband, Eddie of Clarke County, VA, Angela K. Ritenour and her fiancé, Bobbie Labida of Middleway, WV and Kimberly Ritenour Clem and her husband, Billy of Stephens City, VA; a brother, Carroll Ritenour and his wife, Peggy of Winchester, VA; and five grandchildren, Casey Ritenour of Hopewell Junction, NY, Logan Smith of Clarke County, VA.Jamie and Travis Clem of Stephens City, VA and Erin Smith of Clarke County, VA.

Three sisters, Isabelle Nethers, Edna Middleton and Etta Ritenour and seven brothers, Thomas, Charles, Howard, Edward, Amos, Carlton and Earl Ritenour all preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P. M. Monday, July 16, 2012 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, with Pastor Ed Fife and Rev. Anthony Wadsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, VA.

Pallbearers will be Chad Wiley, Lee Middleton, Greg Ritenour, George Nethers, Dave Huff and Timmy Ferrebee. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Moore, Brian Conrad, Jeff Gray, Sammy Buckley and Mike Wright.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
