Daneen Darlyse Reed, 74 of Berryville, Virginia, died Saturday, September 10, 2010 in the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Virginia.
Daneen was born October 30, 1935 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James H. and Margaret Reed.
She had worked as a medical administrator for Dr. Cooper.
She was a member of Marvin Chapel Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Thornton of Woodbridge, VA and Sean Thornton of Pennsylvania; a brother, Jim Reed; and a sister, Paula Heller both of Hollywood, MD; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A son, Jeffrey Thornton, a daughter, Dawn Thornton and two sisters, Melody Hoye and Gloria Miller preceded her in death.
Daneen lived for her grandchildren, Travis Thornton, Alyssa Hadd, Joel Wilson, Tara Thornton, Carly Thornton, Dennis Conner, Jr., Joseph Thornton and her great-grandson, William Hadd.
She loved family gatherings and cooking large meals for everyone as well as creating pottery. She had an awesome sense of humor and was a beloved aunt who treated everyone she knew like they were her very own children.
One of her favorite past times was cheering her favorite football team, the Washington Redskins, on to victory and loved to spend time at the beach especially in the Outer Banks.
Some of the lasting memories were made with a chocolate shake or hot fudge sundae she enjoyed so much.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M, Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Enders and Shirley Funeral Chapel, Berryville with the Rev. Ken Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, WV.
Pallbearers will be Travis Thornton, Joseph Thornton, Ken Motley, Dennis Conner Jr., Shelby Knight, Tim Reed and Joe Hoye.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P. M. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
