Obituary for Dorothy J. Sowell

Dorothy J. Sowell passed away peacefully on August 24, 2010 at the Winchester Medical Center.

She was born in Cumberland, MD on November 8, 1935, the daughter of Carl F. and Agnes K. Bennett.

Dorothy married Walter (Jack) Sowell in 1957 in Cumberland, MD.

She was a homemaker, an avid gardener, and animal lover.

Surviving her are her husband of Berryville; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Shelby of Stephens City, VA; two sisters, Lois Silvious of Cumberland, MD and Rosalie Piper of Accident, MD; and one brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Pauline of Leesburg, VA.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, two brothers, Paul and Leonard, and one sister, Ruth.

At her request, all services will be private.

Memorial can be made in her name to the Clarke County Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 713, Berryville, VA 22611, Winchester SPCA, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601 or John H. Enders Fire & Rescue Squad, 9 S. Buckmarsh St., Berryville, VA 22611.

Arrangements are being handled by the Enders & Shirley Funeral home, Berryville, VA.
