Elizabeth P. Edwards, 90, of Berryville, Virginia, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Edwards was born July 11, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York the daughter of John Francis and Elizabeth Elinor Glover Peterson.
She was educated at Erasmus Hall and Brooklyn College.
She was a former Director of Admissions at Monroe College in Middletown, Virginia and Admissions Coordinator for Computer Learning Center. She was a medical lab technician with Dr. Emily Franklin in Brooklyn, New York from 1945-1949.
She was a volunteer during WWII with American Women’s Hospital Reserve Corps and Adelphi Hospital, Brooklyn, New York as an ambulance attendant two nights weekly from 1941-1943. She was an umpire at the Clarke County High School girl’s field hockey games for two seasons. She was a volunteer at the Clarke County Library for 15 years.
She was married to the late Philip Brian Edwards of Berryville, VA who passed away on April 30, 2006.
Surviving are two sons, Russell Lee Edwards and his wife, Linda of Winchester, VA and Donald Brian Edwards and his wife, Debra of Berryville, VA; a stepson, Christopher Allen Edwards of Warrenton, VA; three grandsons, Michael Brian Edwards and his wife, Aime of Winchester, VA, Richard Lee Edwards and his wife Lindsay of Stephens City, VA, and Bradley Scott Edwards of Winchester, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Brian Edwards, Jr. and Madison Elizabeth Edwards both of Winchester, VA.
Graveside rites will be held at 11:00 A. M. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Shenandoah Memorial Park in Frederick County, Virginia with The Rev. Canon Dwight L. Brown officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Memorial Fund of Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, P. O. Box 27106, New York, NY 10087 or to your favorite charity.
