Garland Ray “Shoat” Tumblin, 83, of Berryville, Virginia, Tuesday, October 28, 2010 in the Blue Hospice Residential Center, Winchester.
Mr. Tumblin was born September 24, 1927 in Clarke County, Virginia, the son of Burrl Jackson and Mary Shepherd Tumblin.
He retired from the transportation division at Mt. Weather.
He was a member of the Charles Town Moose Lodge #948, VFW Auxiliary of Berryville, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Winchester.
He married Norris Jenkins Tumblin on May 4, 1951 in Frederick, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife is a brother, Elwood Tomblin of Stephens City.
Four sisters, Sadie Gray, Della Stickles, Dora Smallwood, and Madeline Breeden, and four brothers, Robert Tomblin, Lathan Tumblin, Lonnie Tomblin, and Amos Tomblin, all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Monday, November 1, 2010, at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel in Berryville with Rev. William Dawson and Rev. Jonathan Bunker officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville.
Pallbearers will be Walter Wilson, Walter Rutherford, Bobby Lyles, Fred Pierce, Danny Longerbeam, and Jim Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Braithwaite and Billy Carpenter.
The family will receive friends 7:00 – 9:00 P. M. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
