Harold “Nat” Lloyd Mallory, 85, of Berryville, Virginia, died Friday, August 5, 2011 in a local nursing home.
Mr. Mallory was born November 21, 1925 in Berryville, Virginia, the son of John Douglas and Edith Fuller Mallory.
He retired from FEMA after 33 ½ years of service.
He had served in the U. S. Army Combat Infantry during WWII and the Korean War.
He was one of two surviving Charter members of the Berryville VFW Post 9760 and was a member of the VFW Honor Guard since 1945. He was a former member of the American Legion in Berryville and Winchester.
He married Evelyn Longerbeam Mallory on October 1, 1950 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife is their son, Martin L. Mallory; grandchildren, Joshua D. Mallory, Nathan L. Mallory, Martin H. Mallory, Cyne-Burh G. Mallory, all of Berryville, VA; a son, Harold J. Dittinger, Sr. of Arlington, VA; grandchildren, H. J. Dittinger of Arlington, VA and Margo Grimm of Lexington, KY; and six great grandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Two brothers, Montford L. Mallory and Douglas Iden Mallory preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in the Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville with Rev. Dan Stanley officiating.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Asberry, Raymond Fuller, Ronald Jenkins, Gary Elsea, Larry Tavener and Martin H. Mallory.
Military Honors will be provided by the Clarke County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P. M. Monday evening at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.
