Obituary for Helen Levi McDonald

Helen McGill Levi McDonald, 88, of Berryville, Virginia, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center, Winchester, Virginia.

Mrs. McDonald was born February 24, 1922, in Berryville, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Albert and Sallie Lanham Levi.   She was the last member of her immediate family.   She was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

She was a 1940 graduate of Berryville High School.   She retired in 1983 from The Bank of Clarke County after 41 years of service.

Mrs. McDonald was a member of Berryville Baptist Church for more than 75 years.   She was a member of the Mary Wisecarver Sunday School Class and the Loving Service Society of the church.   She was past matron of McKinley Chapter #19, Order of the Eastern Star, Winchester, VA.

She married Edward Harris McDonald on Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943 in Berryville.   Col. McDonald died August 15, 1990.

She is survived by four nieces and two nephews:   Nan Allan O’Brien (Jim) of Berryville, Gail Kercheval (Ronnie) and Patricia Boyce (Bill), both of Winchester, Robyn Seaver (Scott) of Stephens City, Pete Levi (Linda) of Winchester and John Knight of Stephens City, sister in-laws, Myra Levi of Berryville and Juanita Van Dyke of San Antonio, TX, and brother-in-law Robert A. McDonald of Winchester, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 7:00-9:00 P.M., Monday, October 25, 2010, at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville.   The funeral will be conducted from the Berryville Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 26, 2010 with the Rev. Dan Stanley officiating.   Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville.

Pallbearers will be:   Richard Whirley, William A. Bowerman, Lawrence White, William Staples, Roger Nicodemus and Edward Wisecarver.
