Obituary for James A. Racer

James Arthur Racer, 53, of Berryville, VA, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in the Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.

Mr. Racer was born July 14, 1957 in Winchester, VA. Jimmy was the son of the late Vernon Major Racer and Virginia Keffer Little. He is survived by his wife, Anne Marie “Re” Howell Racer who he married on November 14, 1981.

Jimmy graduated in 1975 from Clarke County High School in Berryville, VA and is a 1981 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond,VA. He was the owner and President of Battletown Appraisers, Inc.

He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, John Little, of Stephens City, VA; two sons, Jesse Thomas Racer of Charlotte, NC and Joseph Major Racer of Berryville, VA; a sister, Beckey Jo Racer Reed and her husband, Al, of Raleigh, NC; and two nieces, Christen Reed Edenfield and husband, Benjamin, of Atlanta, GA and Amy Reed of London, England.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A. M. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the St. Bridget’s Chapel in the Field, Berryville, VA with Rev. Michael J. Dobbins officiating.   Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Winchester. The family will receive friends in the Chapel one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Racer, Joey Racer, Bobby Howell, Brad Byrd, Matt Byrd and Kirk Brosnahan.

Arrangements are being handled by Enders & Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville.
