John Edward Griffin, 55, of Berryville, Virginia, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Griffin was born June 17, 1955 in Long Beach, California, the son of Joseph Luther and Virginia Janice Head Griffin.
He was self-employed as a master carpenter. He loved the Redskins and fishing.
He attended Fellowship Bible Church, Winchester. His favorite bible verse is Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
He married Karen Beatty-Griffin on September 6, 1980 in Great Falls, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Jesse Cole Griffin and Justin Levi Griffin both of Berryville, VA; a daughter, Mariel Elizabeth Griffin of Berryville, VA; a brother, Joseph Luther Griffin II of Virginia; a step-brother, Paul “Sonny” Ward of Arizona; his first grandchild due in November; Sammy, the dog who he adored and his cockatoo, Tilly.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 P. M. Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Fellowship Bible Church, Winchester with Tim McManigle officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, VA.
