Obituary for John P. Laycock, Sr.

John Paul Laycock, Sr., 90, of Kearneysville, West Virginia, passed away October 8, 2010 in Charles Town, at the Genesis Health Center.
He was born November 11, 1919 in Loudoun County, Virginia. His parents were Carol Laycock and Mary Thompson Laycock.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret Belle Johnson Childs Laycock.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Laycock and three brothers, William, Robert and Curtis Laycock.
He is survived by four sons, John P. Laycock, Jr. and wife, Daisy, Harry G. Laycock and wife, Kathy, David Childs and Richard Childs; a daughter, Ann Winn Hyre; he has been blessed with 13 grandchildren, Bonnie Henry, Holly Hensell, Melissa Wheeler, Christopher Laycock, Joseph Laycock, Michael Childs, Jenny Childs-Lamb, Michelle Childs, Matthew Childs, Cody Childs, Phillip Childs, Christina Hyre, and Stephanie Hyre; as well as 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Laycock and Joe Laycock, Sr.; a sister, Marie Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a farmer all his life. He was a charter member of South Jefferson Ruritan, a member of Summit Point Methodist Church and Methodist Men’s group.
He was a board member of Interstate Milk Producers Association and Artificial Breeders Association.
He served two terms on the Farmers Home Administration Board and was also a Board Member of Southern States Co-Op.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the Summit Point United Methodist Church, Summit Point, WV. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Hamilton, VA.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P. M. Monday evening at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.
The family would like to thank all who helped Big John and had been a part of his life.
