Obituary for Nina M. Galloway “Billy”

Nina Mae “Billy” Collier Galloway, 95, of Berryville, VA passed away March 2, 2010.

She was born February 2, 1915 in Orangeburg County, SC, the daughter of the late Thomas William Collier and Mary Cornelia Smith.   She was married to the late C. H. S. “Chick” Galloway of Berryville, VA.   She was a devoted member of Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church for over 50 years having served many years as church treasurer as well as being active in fundraising, historic records, outreach, the board, and women’s projects.   She was educated in both nursing and business.   She worked at the Episcopal Hospital in Washington, D. C., N. I. H. and for the federal government for many years.

She is survived by her son, Charles William Collier Galloway, his wife, Deborah, grandchildren, James Galloway, Scott Bowman and his wife, Leslie, and their children Ellie and Anna, Brooke Bowman Frame and her husband, “Chuck” and their children, Charles and Carter, Ashton Galloway and his daughter, Kelsey, and Elliott Galloway; by her daughter, Mary Galloway Boelt; and Samuel Breeden and his wife, Dot and children, Angie Nick and her husband, Donald and their children, D.J. and Brandon, Lawrence Hottel and children, Stephanie and Gary and their children, Marilyn Hawk and her husband, Larry and their children, Cristy and Brett, and Samuel M. Breeden and his wife, Crystal and their children, Addison and Sam Alexis.

A daughter-in-law, Cathy Breeden, preceded her in death.

She will be remembered for her love of God and family, her hard work, her strong spirit and humor, and her kindness to all, “man or beast”.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church in Clarke County with Rev. Ken Patrick officiating.   Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville.

The family will receive friends 7:00 – 9:00 P. M. Friday evening at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Mr. Lavan Gray, 282 Kinsky Lane, Berryville, VA   22611 and/or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333, W. Cork St, Winchester, VA   22601.
