Paul was born February 2, 1949 in Winchester, VA, the son of Betty Altland Carper and the late Paul S. Carper, Sr.
Paul graduated from James Wood High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972. He attended Monroe Business College. He worked in sales for many years and was owner of Paul’s Travel World prior to his illness.
Paul was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church, Friendship Firehall, Winchester Kiwanis Club, and Top of Virginia Regional Chamber.
Paul loved life and enjoyed his family and friends. He loved to travel, especially cruising and visiting Disney properties.
He was an avid golfer and truly enjoyed working and playing golf at Rock Harbor Golf Club during his final years.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jennifer Geiman Carper, whom he married August 24, 1974. Also surviving are his mother of Winchester, VA; a daughter, Lori Dulyea and her husband, Dan of Inwood, WV; two sons, Joel Fries and his wife, Michele of Spotsylvania, VA and Nathan Carper and his wife, Julie of Baltimore, MD. Paul is survived by four grandchildren, Connor Anderson of Inwood, WV and Tyler, Bethany, and Trevor Fries of Spotsylvania.
He is survived by his brother, William T. Carper and his wife, Lynne of Strasburg, VA and a niece, Julie Carper of Winchester, VA.
Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald W. Carper.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P. M. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Braddock Street United Methodist Church, Winchester with Rev. Dr. James A. Hewitt officiating. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 P. M. Saturday prior to the service at the church.
