Richard King Balinger, 85, of Berryville, VA, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Balinger was born December 2, 1926, in Takoma Park, MD, the son of the late Robert Pettis Balinger and Virginia Thelma King Balinger. He graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA and joined the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the end of WWII he graduated from George Washington University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Balinger worked as an engineer for Washington Gas Light Company retiring after 28 years.
Surviving is his wife of over 50 years, Elizabeth Anne Ross Balinger, are a daughter, Jill B. Kimbirl of Belmont, NC; two sons, Raymond Ross Balinger of Round Hill, VA and Robert Edward Balinger of Jefferson, MD; sister, Betty Taylor of Kilmarnock, VA; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Berryville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jonathan Bunker officiating. Burial will be private.
