Obituary for Stanley H. Lawson

Stanley Hamilton Lawson, 75, of White Post, Virginia, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Mr. Lawson was born February 22, 1936 in White Post, Virginia, the son of Herndon Phillip Lawson, Sr. and Evie Allen Lawson.

He was retired from Wal-Mart where he had worked as a greeter.

He had served in the U. S. Air Force.

He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church; Civil Liberties of Front Royal; Front Royal Elks Lodge #2382; Coalition for Racial Unity; Shenandoah Masonic Lodge 325; Berryville VFW Post #41; American Legion; Vice President of White Post Community Development; honorary Buffalo Soldier & Educator; and Temple of the Nile.

He married Essie Maria Morton Lawson on June 13, 1957 in Winchester, Virginia. Mrs. Lawson died on July 23, 2003.

Surviving are two daughters, Sabrina Renzy and her husband Roy of Winchester, VA and Otelia Home and her husband Kenneth of Stephens City, VA; sister, Nancy Jeffries of Winchester, VA; three grandchildren, Kelly Morris of Strasburg, VA, Olympia Johnson of Stephens City, VA and Olivia Renzy of Winchester, VA; ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

A brother, Herndon P. Lawson, Jr. preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon, Monday, February 20, 2012 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, with Rev. Raymond Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Charles “Buster” Jackson Community Cemetery, White Post.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be the Buffalo Soldiers.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 P. M. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
