Obituary for Vellas O. Funk

Vellas Oneida Funk, 92, of Boyce, Virginia, died Friday, June 3, 2011 in Winchester, VA.
Mrs. Funk was born March 20, 1919 in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of John Early and Elizabeth Hyde Bragg.
She was a homemaker.
She was a longtime member of the Church of the Pilgrims in Washington, DC and had served as the financial secretary for 17 years.
She married Carl Frederick Richard Wilson, Sr. in February 1940 in Washington, DC. Mr. Wilson died in 1955. She then married Josiah Charles “Dutch” Funk in July 1957 in Washington, DC. Mr. Funk died in 1988.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Hill and her husband Jimmy L. of Boyce, VA; a nephew, Joseph L. Wiggins of Sun Lakes, AZ; and a niece, Virginia Lee Tobin of Grayslake, IL.
Two sons preceded her in death, 2nd Lt. Marine Carl Frederick Richard Wilson Jr., who was killed in action in Vietnam 1969 and James William Wilson who died in 2004.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 A. M. Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Church of the Pilgrims, Washington, DC with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Krehbiel officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
