Obituary for Walter J. Ryzowicz

Walter Jack Ryzowicz, 82, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in Winchester, VA.

Walter was born September 18, 1928, the son of Anna Kasprezyk Ryzowicz and Jacob Ryzowicz in Ambridge, PA.

Walter graduated from Ambridge High School and attended Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA for one year, then enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. During the Korean War he was stationed primarily at the Headquarters of the Far Eastern Air Force in Tokyo, Japan. After completing his military service, Walter enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He also pursued graduate courses at Gannon College in Erie, PA.

Walter was employed as an accountant and Controller of American Sterilizer Company (AMSCO) in Erie, PA and Jamestown, NY. He retired from AMSCO on January 1, 1991 after 30 years of employment.

Walter was a loving husband and father, and enjoyed many activities with his family. He married Stephanie Patricia Zajac on June 2, 1956 in Aliquippa, PA. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie of Berryville, VA; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Thomas Caldwell of Berryville, VA; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Therese Ryzowicz of Lexington, KY; his sister, Emily Severe of Lubbock, TX; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Alfreda Thomas and a brother, Jack Ryzowicz.

A Mass will be held 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the St. Bridget’s Chapel in the Field, Berryville, VA with Father Brian Shoda officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, VA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Adult Care Center, 115 Wolfe St., Winchester, VA 22601; Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601; your choice of any Veteran’s organization; or a donation to a Catholic Church for a Mass Intention.

Arrangements are being handled by the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, VA.
