Obituary for William D. Johnson “Sweet William”

Johnson PhotoWilliam “Buck” Dangerfield Johnson, 90, of Berryville, Virginia, passed Saturday, May 29, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Johnson was born February 16, 1920 in Lewisville, Virginia, the son of Corrine Johnson Williams.
Mr. Johnson was a long time employee of Moore and Dorsey Inc. and served in the United States Army.
He was affiliated with Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Lewisville, Virginia where he was a member of the Mt. Airy Men’s Chorus.
He was married to the late Evelyn V. Cook Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Amy Underwood of Berryville and Lisa Winston of Kearneysville, WV; five sons, Philip Johnson of Broadway,   VA, Robert “Bobby” Johnson of Winchester, VA, Alonzo Butler of Rippon, WV, Frederick “Freddie” Winston and Robin “Bubby” Winston, both of Kearneysville, WV; five sisters-in-law, Mary Cross and her husband, Robert,   Lorraine Reid and Elizabeth Cook, all of Winchester, VA, Carolee Cook of Martinsburg, WV, and Christine Cook of Washington, DC; 33 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; his trusted companion, Ty; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Three sons, John W. Johnson, Thomas H. Johnson, and David C. Johnson, and a grandson, Thomas H. Johnson III, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor George F. Jones officiating.   Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery in Franklintown, West Virginia.   Military honors provided by the Clarke County Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Lowell Holmes, Keith Underwood, Kevin Liggins, Michael Carter, Robert Glenn, and Kenneth Liggins.   Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Moore and Dorsey, Inc.
The family will receive friends 7:00 – 8:30 P. M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
