Zula Mae Kerns, 94, of Bunker Hill, WV, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at her home.
She was born December 23, 1915 in Pendleton County, WV; the daughter of Solomon P. and Ivy Mae Pharis Davis. She retired in 1964 as an apple trimmer with National Fruit Company.
She married Clarence R. Kerns on August 14, 1935 in Winchester. Mr. Kerns died March 30, 1993.
She is survived by two sons, Edgar Eugene Kerns, Sr. of Gerrardstown, WV and Robert Ray Kerns of Jones Springs, WV; two daughters, Nancy Lee Ricketts and Venetta Mae Kerns both of Bunker Hill, WV; four sisters, Mary Albaugh of Capon Bridge, WV, Jessie Stickley of Cumberland, MD, Virginia Hubbard of Winchester and Irene Wright of Clear Brook, VA; one brother, Junior E. Davis of Bunker Hill, WV; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and twenty-eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Richard Kerns and four brothers, P.J. Davis, William A. Davis, Walter G. Davis and George A. Davis.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester with Pastor Clarence Davis, Jr. officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Bloomery Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Bloomery, WV.
Pallbearers will be Charles Kerns, Allen Ricketts, Kyle Riner, William Kerns, Randy Kerns, Bob Riner and Mike Wiltshire.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
