Police have taken Ralph Leon Jackson in to custody in connection with the shooting of 18 year old Christina Floyd, and 27 year old Timothy Davis. The two were shot at Rock Point Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway on April 5th.
At 3:15 PM today the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office accompanied by several other law enforcement organizations, executed a warrant to search the residence at 1880 Howardsville Turnpike in Augusta County. Upon searching the residence police officials took 56 year old Ralph Leon Jackson in to custody. Police have also recovered what they believe to be the weapon, ammunition, and vehicle that were used in the shootings.
Authorities have established that Jackson and the victims are not acquainted. Police have been unable to establish a motive at this time.
Charges are currently pending discussion between the Augusta County Commonwealth’s Attorney and the United States Attorney. Jackson may face state charges for attempted capital murder for Davis and attempted murder for Floyd. He may also face two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Jackson was captured as a result of a Crime Stopper’s tip that was received around 2:00 AM this morning that contained valuable information leading the investigation to his residence.
