Powhatan Lego Team Earns State Honors

Congratulations to Powhatan’s youngest engineers (1st grade) Colin A., Argyle D., Ethan E., and Nikil S. who are all part of Shenandoah Builders, a lego team that meets regularly at Powhatan School.

Recently, the four young engineers received “Best Construction Innovation Honor” for their design and engineering efforts to develop a fully automated model of a chocolate factory outfitted with moveable parts and powered by a simple battery powered motor and Lego blocks.

The theme for this year’s competition was “Snack Attack” which challenged teams nationwide to explore ways to help ensure public food safety.

Powhatan’s team, led by parent coach Cory Ashton, received its award in Richmond, Virginia.
