REC Employees Donate Over $50,000

Reaching out to the community is a priority for Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) employees. Through their volunteer efforts, employees donated over $50,000 to the areas served by REC in 2011.

“It is not only the dollars contributed by the individuals at the cooperative that make an impact, but also their personal involvement where they live and work,” said Farrah McCoy, construction coordinator and president of Project Big Heart. Employees have joined together to form the organization for that reason. It is through this venue that they are able to collectively make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

“One of the greatest things that our employees did in the early 90’s was to form the Project Big Heart organization,” said Rhonda F. Curtis, manager of cooperative communications. “It has made such significant contributions to our communities over the years. As the REC workforce changes over time, the organization is still successful in its efforts thanks to the passion that our employees have for giving.”
