Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) recently selected Chris Headley to serve as the Cooperative’s new manager of administrative services/controller. Headley will oversee improvements of the total operation of the Cooperative and be supportive of newly developed programs. In addition, he will ensure that involvement and input of personnel from all levels is achieved to promote maximum service to the membership.
Headley will lead REC’s Finance and Accounting, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Load Management & Telecommunications, Project Management, and the Information Systems Service Provider in his new position. He has a long career history working in the electric utility industry, and working in a similar position with Southern States Cooperative.
Headley received a Bachelor of Science in finance from Virginia Tech in 1985, an Masters in Business Administration from The College of William and Mary in 1989, and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1997. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Virginia and holds the Certified Management Accountant and Certified Financial Manager designations. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, and the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives, for which he currently serves as national director. He resides with his wife Karen in Richmond, Virginia. They have three adult children.
REC provides electric service to over 155,000 connections in parts of 22 Virginia counties. With its general office in Fredericksburg, Va., the Cooperative maintains more than 16,000 miles of power lines through its service area, which ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
