Route 601 – Road Open

August 13, 2010 8:00 am Update: Blueridge Mountain Road has been reopened. A broken power line at Mount Weather Road was replaced overnight by Virginia Power and electricity was restored to the region around 4:30 am.  Blueridge Mountain Road was closed from around 2:30pm Thursday and for much of Thursday evening due to downed power lines across the road.

5:30 pm Update: There appears to be limited access at Route 650. Access at other point along Route 601 is unknown at this time. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution when travelling this route.

At 4:30 pm Blue Ridge Mountain Road (Route 601) is closed due to power lines across the road.

The first closure is at the intersection of Route 650 and Route 601 where a power pole has broken and lines are down across the road. The blockage is 3.2 miles south of Route 7.
