Habitat for Humanity of Winchester-Frederick County will be holding it’s 2nd annual Salvage Art Show & Auction, March 17, 2012, from 7 – 10 pm. This fun and exciting event will feature pieces available for auction from more than 80 local and regional artists, some of which have been featured in national art exhibits. This event presents a perfect opportunity to take home something one-of-a-kind to grace your home and experience the fun and creative vibe of very talented artists.
What’s old is new again literally. What the Salvage Art Show & Auction seeks to do is to reuse and recycle old items—architectural remnants, housing materials, and the like—and turn them into something beautiful and useful again.
All pieces entered must contain a salvage component that will be judged by two professional artists and a local celebrity. They will be divided into three divisions: Professional, Novice and Student. The work will be evaluated on skill, originality, composition, and salvaged components.
The presenting sponsor for the event is Wells Fargo Advisors. It will be held at the beautiful Museum of the Shenandoah Valley which will be open to tour free of charge for the evening. In honor of Saint Patrick’s Day delicious Irish-themed food will be served prepared by one of Winchester’s most desirable caterers—Barbara Hineline of Select Catering and Events.
New this year is the “Bubbles & Bling” raffle, which is a champagne tasting and raffle offering a chance to win one of two half carat diamonds valued at over $4,000, donated by Anna Quinn Jewelry.
Proceeds will go directly to the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Funds raised from the 2011 event were almost $13,000 helping Habitat to build more homes and provide home ownership to low income families in our community. Plan to attend the Salvage Art Show & Auction and play your part in helping Habitat for Humanity of Winchester-Frederick County reach their goal to complete up to 7 more homes by the end of 2012.
Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the Habitat ReStore, Anna Quinn Jewelry, Potomac Bead Company, Nibblins and the Habitat office.
