School Board Extends Deadline for Bids on New High School

new-cchsOn May 20th, the Clarke County School Board held a non-mandatory pre-bid meeting with contractors and suppliers interested in bidding on the new Clarke County High School. Over 22 firms attended. In a letter to constituents School Board Chairman Robina Bouffault said, “[The contractors] raised good questions, which will result in an addendum to the bid documents, to clarify a few points. A number of the attendees requested that we give more time for the submittal of bids, and this request was agreed to.” As a result of the decision, the new schedule for the reception of bids is as follows:

June 17th –       Receipt of Bids at the J.A.S. offices
June 18th –       Opening of Bids – 3 PM in the government center
June 25th –       Intent to Award is announced
July 9th –             Contract Award

Here’s hoping that the bids are reasonable, and contain all of the VDoT and other requirements, to avoid a hiccupo like that experienced by The Barns of Rose Hill.
