A significant winter storm has already begun to cover Clarke County, Virginia with snow this Wednesday morning. Forecasters are predicting that the county could see up to a foot of new snow by late this evening.
Clarke County Schools are closed today. All evening and after-school activities have been canceled.
As of 5:00 am EST a light dusting of snow had already fallen across the county. Frozen ground and road surfaces caused by the extremely cold temperatures that have embraced the northern Shenandoah Valley over the past week will allow precipitation to quickly accumulate. Drivers should use extreme caution today as road conditions are expected to quickly deteriorate as the storm strengthens.
