So you don’t think you can dance, act or sing but you’ve always wanted to learn the art craft; then classes at the Weekend DramaShops may help get you on your way to becoming the next Broadway star. Weekend DramaShops is a brand new theatre studio that opened its doors in Winchester’s trendy Bright Center, offering a wide variety of classes for children ages 4 to 18 including jazz dance, alexander technique, scene study, vocal technique and more. These classes not only introduce dance, drama technique and creativity to students, but also promote an active and healthy lifestyle regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Scholarships and reduced tuition rates are available for families facing financial hardships.
Led by owners and directors La Tasha Jones and Tamiya Earley, the caliber of training at the Weekend DramaShops is phenomenal, with professional choreographers and performers as instructors. Both directors have performed professionally and competitively throughout North America, contributing their amazing talent and experience to the Weekend DramaShops’ clientele.
“We are thrilled to bring our love of the arts to Winchester,” said La Tasha Jones, director. “With our brand new space opened on North Loudoun Street, we hope to foster a love of drama and dance in our students and bring an appreciation for the arts to the forefront of the community.”
Classes are offered for children of ages 4 to 18, with programs ranging from a PlayDates class designed to get little ones moving to advanced classes for teens. Adults can get their artistic groove by auditioning or helping backstage at Selah Theatre Project’s community theatre productions.
