Sewer Rates Raised at Brief Town Council Session

Last night’s meeting of the Berryville Town Council was a speed round as council members wrapped up 3 public hearings and adopted 6 motions is 30 minutes. The speed of the session was due, in large part, to the fact that no citizens signed up to speak at any of the three scheduled public hearings. Council members needed no further discussion amongst themselves so all of the   hearings were opened and closed within minutes. Consequently the Town approved the new ward redistricting map, raised the town sewer rate by $1.50 and adopted the 2011-2012 town budget.

In other council news:

  • The town awarded a contract to the firm of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates for auditing services.
  • The draft version of the hydrant use policy was sent to   the streets and utilities committee and a meeting was scheduled to discuss the policy on May 25th at 1:00PM
  • The Town Police auxiliary program was approved
