Sheriff Office Seeks Assistance Locating Fugitive

On May 17, 2010 at approximately 12:35 p.m. the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a homeowner in the 700 block on Hardesty road, Summit Point, West Virginia. The homeowner advised that his property had been broken into and items stolen. Having observed the suspect leaving his residence, the homeowner followed the suspect into Clarke County, Virginia, and confronted the suspects in the area of Wither’s Larue Road and Deerwood Lane.sheriff-badge

Sheriff’s Deputies responded and took Jesse Cole Griffin of Berryville, Virginia into custody for possession of stolen property. Prior to arrival of the deputies the other suspect fled from the homeowner. Virginia State Police responded to assist with a tracking K-9. Those efforts were unsuccessful in locating the suspect. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded and took a report of the larceny from the homeowner.

The suspect that fled the scene is described as a white male, 5’6” – 5’7”, 100 – 110 lbs. 18 – 20 years of age, with shoulder length dark brown or black hair wearing a green shirt, plaid jacket, tan or light green pants and a gold necklace.
